Privacy policy

This is a draft. The final version will be published before public launch.

What we collect

Your name, email address and the inventory you enter: items, locations, photos, tags and notes.

Where it's stored

In data centres in Canada. Photos are stored with an object storage provider under the same protections.

Photo suggestions

Premium households can turn on photo suggestions in their settings. When they are on, new item photos, and the household's category and tag names, are analysed by an open-source model on servers Shelfes runs. They are not sent to another company or used to train a model. Suggestions are only saved to an item when you choose to use them.

Product barcodes

When you scan or type a product barcode to add an item, Shelfes asks Open Food Facts what the product is. Only the barcode is sent, never your name, account or household. Product names and photos from Open Food Facts are open data under the Open Database License.

Your choices

You can export your data or delete your account at any time. Deleted accounts are removed within 30 days.
